Good afternoon readers and welcome to a Rockabilly Themed Weekend Wedding!

A fun tea-length wedding dress with sweetheart neckline by Stephanie James Couture is accented by a black halter neck wiggle dress that shows off all of the bridesmaid's sexy curves. Long before the rockin' vows are exchanged, the guests get a hint at the fun in store when they receive personalized invitations in the shape of old vinyl records. The reception venue is the perfect place for a vintage Rockabilly wedding. The table linens are black, white, and blue polka dots and the room is filled with vintage cars and memorabilia. Instead of serving a personalized cocktail, this couple opts for serving a classic, Coca-Cola in glass bottles! The guests marvel at a cake that is simple white with vintage tattoo inspired decorations. And of course, this wedding would not be complete without music! This is a wedding that will not soon be forgotten!

{It's the Little Touches...}

How amazing and how tasty could these little cakes be? Burger and fries mini-cakes harken back to the 50's burger joint and malt shop atmosphere.

A vintage netted veil, like this one, or a birdcage veil is perfect for a vintage 1950's or Rockabilly themed wedding. Plus, they are a stylish alternative to a longer more traditional veil.

These little favors are simple kraft paper boxes topped with a red bow and personalized tattoo label.

Next week is the last week of November's Vintage Month (gosh, is it December already?). We will be looking at a soft and beautiful Pink, Gold, and Ivory Vintage Wedding. Quick! Before it's too late, cast your vote for the theme that will kick of the magical month of December.

{What to Wear Wednesday} Rockabilly Theme

~My 100th Post~
Good evening all and welcome back for What to Wear Wednesday!
This week is all about Rockabilly! So, to me, that means energy and fun! There are definite silhouettes that you and your girls will want to fill in order to match your theme. But never fear because there are hundreds of retro pin ups to guide you on your way to retro beauty. Let's take a step back in time to look at some great inspirations!

{Hair & Accessories}
For your hair ... curls, curls, curls! Nobody sported straight hair in the 1950's so for your Rockabilly themed wedding, neither should you! Check out some retro pin ups for hairstyles, but the classic elements are victory rolls and pompadours!
Everyone wears heels to their wedding, but nobody said that you couldn't have fun doing it!
Try a cute bolero sweater with a pretty rose or and edgy skull applique for an added spark (or warmth).

{Bridesmaids}
There are some classic silhouettes that are straight from the Rockabilly era that are perfect for you and your girls. The 50's "wiggle dress" is a tight tapered dress that just screams sexy. If you want a more fun "party" atmosphere, a 50's swing style dress that has a tight bodice and a full skirt is perfect.
All dresses by Stop Staring through Unique Vintage.

Dresses by Queen of Heartz through Unique Vintage.

Dress on left by Heartbreaker through Unique Vintage; dress on right by Authentic Vintage through Unique Vintage.

{Groomsmen}
To look fabulously 50's for your Rockabilly wedding, your man and his groomsmen just need to take fashion and hair cues from icons like Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Cash!

Unfortunately, there will be no Floral Friday this week. However, you are still all invited to a Rockabilly Weekend Wedding this Saturday!

{Table Top Tuesday} Rockabilly Theme

Good afternoon readers and welcome to the third installment of a vintage themed Table Top Tuesday!
This week is all about Rockabilly, so that means fun, high heels, and rock n' roll! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Rockabilly, here's a mini history lesson (via wikipedia) ...
"Rockabilly" is a term that mixes "rock n' roll" with "hillybilly" and describes both a style of music and a style of fashion that emerged from the Southern United States in the 1950s. The music had influences of rock n' roll, country, swing, and rhythm & blues, and the typical instruments of the style were guitar, double bass, drums, and piano. Some of the most popular artists and bands included Bill Haley, Bill Flagg, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and The Commodores. The popularity of Rockabilly faltered in the 1960s. However, like most vintage fads, there were revivals in both the 1970s and the 1980s. Rockabilly even enjoys steady popularity today as a music subculture and has spawned other subcultures, including psychobilly, gothabilly, and punkabilly. The style of Rockabilly fashion for women emerged from the sweet yet utterly sexy clothing and hairstyles of the 1940s and the 1950s pin up girls. Popular pin up models that have spawned the look of Rockabilly include, Bettie Page, Ingrid Bergman, Marta Toren, and Pamela Green. The look also took influences from Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe. The style is even continued today by celebrities like Dita Von Tease and Gwen Stefani. Rockabilly fashions and hairstyles for men took cues from popular Rockabilly artists like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Also, modern Rockabilly takes influences from modern Rock n' Roll and fun loving Las Vegas, so you'll often find both Rockabilly men and women are tattooed, piereced, and rock vibrant hair colours. To truly understand the look, you really have to see it. So, before we look at today's Rockabilly Table Top inspirations, let's take a look at some Rockabilly looks!

{Rockabilly Looks}

{Decorations & Table Settings}
For your decorations and tables look for fun things that really create that fun atmosphere. Fun patterns like checkers and polka dots aren't usually a wedding favourite, but they are perfect for a Rockabilly theme. And, your venue can be definitely more lax to create the a fun atmosphere. Try a backyard barbeque reception or a rustic barn reception under paper lanterns and steamers to harken back to the days of the Rockabilly jamboree!

{Stationary}

All of these invitations, RSVPs, and place cards feature inspirations from old school tattoo art. However, you can use any checker or polka dot patterns to keep it more simple.

{Desserts}
Like the invitations, these cakes all have influences from tattoo art. However, polka dots and checker patterns would make deliciously attractive cakes that are perfect for your Rockabilly wedding.

Check in tomorrow for probably the most fun What to Wear Wednesday yet!
