{Floral Friday} Vintage Art Deco Theme

Hey everyone and welcome back for another (late) Floral Friday!
This week is all about Vintage Art Deco themes for weddings, but when it comes to your floral pieces, there really aren't many limitations to what you can do. Here are some great ideas to help match your flowers to your theme.

{Centerpieces}
It is no secret that my favourite accent to a Vintage Art Deco theme is ostrich feathers! They remind me of the elegance and lavishness of the Art Deco era. Also, their long curving shape is reminiscent of the bold curves and motifs that characterize the Art Deco movement. Adding ostrich feathers into a tall bouquet with beautiful flowers, especially roses, would make great centerpieces. You can also add pearls or crystals to give them a rich feeling.

{Bouquets}
Just like with the centerpieces, adding ostrich feathers, crystals, or pearls to your bouquets are a really great way to give them the lavishness that is characteristic of the Art Deco era. Also adding elements like satin ribbon and art deco inspired brooches not only fit with the theme, but they look fantastic!

Table Top Tuesday - Vintage Art Deco Theme

Good evening everyone and welcome to a the next installment of vintage month!
This week is all about Vintage Art Deco. Now, I have to admit that when I started planning for this week I really didn't know that much about what Art Deco was. So, for you, my loyal readers, a very brief history lesson (via wikipedia) ...
"Art Deco" is used to describe an art design movement that was highly popular during the 1920's straight to the 1940's and is commonly seen as a lavish reaction to the harshness of World War I. It influenced architectural and interior design, fashion, and the visual arts. The elegance of the movement is characterized by its bold use of sweeping curves, sunburst motifs, and chevron patterns. This movement slowly died down with the beginnings of World War II, but there were revivals in the 1960's and the 1980's. Examples of this movement can still be seen today, mostly in architecture, but probably the most widely known is the Chrysler Building in New York City.
So without further adieu, let's take a look at some great vintage Art Deco inspirations for you wedding!

Table Settings:
For your table settings and table decorations you really want to think about elegance. The contrast between black and white isclean and crisp, not to mention perfect for an art deco theme. Votive candles, candleabras, white roses, and vases with white or black ostrich feathers are great lighting and decorative elements for an art deco themed table.

Stationary:
There are so many ways that you can incorporate art deco into your stationary, and you can go as simple or as crazy as you want! Most printers will have a few designs for you choose from but you can also search from tons of design ideas to add that personal touch to your stationary.

Desserts:
Just like with the stationary, you can go as simple or as crazy as you want with your (cup)cakes! Don't feel like you have to get caught up in black and white either! There are lots of ways to have fun with an art deco cake but experiment with colour. Beautiful pearls and ribbons are great accents, as well as, clean looking roses.

I love these little art deco inspired beauties! I have to give credit to Sugarbloom Cupcakes & Macaroons for their amazing work! If only they weren't located on another continent ... *sigh*

Stop in tomorrow for some Art Deco Fashion inspirations!
